Today I read a thread at DigitalPoint forums about 4 tips to increase adsense earnings and I thought of giving you a summary and a few more tips, so here it goes:

1. The border and background of the AdSense blocks should be of the exact same color as the page background of your site.

2. The title color of the AdSense blocks should be the same as your links (A tags) and text/URL color should be the same as your page’s text color.

3. You should place your ads as close as possible to the main content of your page.

4. Put only 1 AdSense block when you can afford that (small page, few content) or maximum 2 in order to get only the best paying ads, since ads are displayed according to bidding rules, so the less ad space the better the ad’s payout. Do not use large units such as 728×90 or 336×280 all the time, try half banner or vertical banners if you can fit them into your site’s design, they can display les ads, so you get higher bids.

5. Use the same font and size in your content text as the AdSense blocks in order to blend them perfectly. But beware that AdSense uses different fonts for vertical and horizontal blocks: Arial font is used for vertical banners as well as for rectangle unit, such as 336×280. Verdana font is used for horizontal banners such as the leaderboard 728×90.

6. Make sure that you set the links in your content CSS to look the same as the ads, the color of course should be the same but don’t use a:hover to change the background or link color and don’t remove the underlining of links to look cool: the way the links work should be the same as AdSense blocks.

I hope these tips will help you make the best out of your site and AdSense blocks.
